Been playing the Wasteland "mod" tonight (It's not really a mod as you don't have to install anything it runs from the vanilla game). Think Day Z but without the zombies, basically a free for all PvP with 3 sides to choose from.

4 of us running around tonight getting shot at and generally running away in a disorganised fashion. Great laugh. You only start with a pistol and have to find all the other weapons and first aid kits etc. Rockets flying across the sky from valley to valley and general crazy shit.

Needs to improve stability a bit and the sound system is a bit to whack but hopefully these will be noticed and fixed before release.

Mad and I have ARMA 3, looking forward to how it turns out, but it all looks very good so far. It would be nice to do a UKD revival tractor fight.

Must get the lite version installed to see how it runs.

Oops it expires in 4 days. Better get in on now and give it a snifter.

Just had a quick go. Runs just a tad stodgily on very high settings. So could do with tweaking it a bit.

Still as confusing as it ever was. I thought they were supposed to be streamlining the interface a bit, but it's still hellishly complex. Movement is better than past games and the awkward animations for changing weapons and crouching etc are smoother, but overall it still feels lumpy compared to other titles. Tried the showcase infantry mission and had no idea what was going on. There's still a considerable learning curve to get past. But I guess it is a milsim rather than just a shooter. Will keep at it a bit later and try and get a handle of it before my 4 days is up.

Yeah it still has the depth of control (12 stances to choose from - 3 versions of prone, crouch and standing for example) but you don't have to know every control to play the game now. I agree the interface could have been improved a bit more (it is better) but we don't know how careful they are being to retain their existing fanbase rather than pander to the COD wankers.

At least you don't get one shotted from 3 miles away now :) although the sound is still bugged so everything sounds like it's right next to you (explosions, aircraft etc.) making it hard to locate incoming fire.

Some great mods out already though.

I notice that it's finally come up in the Steam sales at last, although still £30. Will wait a bit to see if it comes up in a flash sale, as the sales are on till the 2nd of Jan.

Anyway, any of you guys still play this online? Any good coop missions etc? How is the new SP campaign?

SP campaign is fun. Not really tried it online. I think its a huge improvement on Arma II. I bought it at Alpha so only paid £20 for it. It's easily worth £30 IMO.

Aye, BF4 is rather good.

It's what BF3 should have been.

So what about all these stories of it being buggy as hell and rather broken?

I have only had 1 crash in the last 2 weeks. Haven't seen any game breaking bugs either. I have been stuck on a rock once or twice, and soemtimes hit markers don't come up, but thats about all i've seen.

Most of the complaints on PC is user error i reckon :naughty:

I've had terrible pings (300+) on and off since the patch on the 20th, was fine before that. I do like how they dropped a major patch right before they all fucked off for the holidays, cunts.
