Never tried it online, only as a SP game.

Myself and Jingles were playing CC5 loads, but it kept crashing and really pissed us off. We were playing a full campaign, and it sucked when you'd been playing for 30 mins, winning the map, and then loose it all as it crashes.

Might be up for a single mission sometime though! PM me next time you fancy a game.

And a very good one actually (or ones - there were five). Real-time squad-level WW2 combat that evolved from the first attempt to do a computer version of ASL, but turned into something rather different. 2 especially (Market Garden) was/is excellent.

I havn't played them since I got Squad Assault (the vastly improved follow-up to the pretty dreadful GI Combat) from the guy who designed CC. EYSA is a bloody good game since it was patched. Well worth the fiver you can now get it in GAME for.

I think I still have CC2, 5 and maybe 3 hanging around somewhere though.... I'll hunt around for them.

I wish I could get 2 to run now, but it really doesn't like XP.

If you like CC, you should have a look at the new Codies WW2 RTS called Soldiers - heros of ww2. There's an early playable demo on Fileplanet. Looks like it could be decent if they add a bit of polish to it.

Codename Panzers is also a good WW2 rts, it plays a lot like Sudden Strike and its just gone gold so it should be up for download soon.

Sudden Strike was pants, it's a blood arcade game pretending to be an RTS, as most RTS' are nowdays, the Close Combat series really was excellent, the bet 2 were II and (so they say) III, I played them all except for III

The codies one is squad/platoon level. It lies somewhere between Sudden Strike and CC.

I tried the demo and quite liked it which was surprising as I'm not that into these games. Unfortunately it is still in need of polish as I experienced some tearing and artifacts until I messed around with the graphics settings.

Probably gonna get a *cough* copy when it releases.

C&C is an RTS, Sudden Strike is an RTS the Total War series are RTS games. An arcade game on the other hand is Space Invaders. Any way I quite enjoyed Sudden Strike, you could crew cannons with your men and hook them up to trucks and tow them and the tanks needed guys to spot for them etc. and you had a set amount of units per level to use ie there was no base building etc. In short it was fun.
