The hard drive all my email archives are on is starting to clunk a bit each time I start up Outlook. So I'm looking for a new external hard drive, preferably a mirrored dual drive setup that is at least 1TB in size. I've had a look around the usual sites and Google etc and just can't seem to find any RAID/mirrored external drive setups. I'm pretty sure folks like Western Digital used to do external USB RAID boxes, but buggered if I can find any now.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Try searching for NAS boxes rather than external HDDs.

Personally I'd just grab a couple of single external HDDs and use something like SyncToy to backup to both at the same time as it costs peanuts.

Well a lot of the NAS boxes use a software solution to backup data to other drives rather than a proper raid solution and they usually cost a bit more because of the extra media center stuff that I don't really want. Thats why I was after a simple plug and play hardware solution.

I got this http://www.ebuyer.com/product/149510 and it's been a doozy. Includes Raid Mirroring so you always have a backup should a disc fail.

Cheaper option http://www.ebuyer.com/product/225067

Might go for one of these Icy Box IB-RD4320StU3 External RAID Storage Enclosure for 2x 3.5 inch SATA HDDs with USB 3.0 interface. Chuck in a couple of 1TB drives at £40 each and its a total cost of just under £150.
