At £130 they can bugger off for the time being. when there's a few more types of gmes that make use of it rather than the obvious Wii clones, then I might be tempted.

I can't envisage any particularly amazing software coming out for it, I suspect it will be very much a Wii Mk.2 - an entertaining novelty for a short time but ultimately not that engaging over the long term. I suspect you're right about the demand for it though and there probably will be money to be made if you get hold of a few to punt on via eBay.

Pretty much agree with the previous comments. It has gimmick written all over it. Expect to find them in the bargain bin at Asda this time next year.

What's the view of the Kinect now? Worth getting, or not? And if so, with which games? I'm quite tempted by the idea of getting something that helps avoid Fat Bastard Syndrome.

Well you can get them for less than £100 now, but there's still nothing on it that gets even close to making me want one yet. Once they start successfully intergrating it into normal core games then I'll get interested. When I mean successfully, I'm thinking of something that actually adds to the game and is worthwhile doing. All the stuff I've seen so far still looks like it would be easier and faster to do on a pad. The only decent bits I've seen so far is the voice activated stuff, which surely could have been done with the standard 360 headset and mic anyway.

The technology itself is very, very impressive but there's not a great deal of good software out for it. Good for a tinker though if you fancy hooking it up to your PC and checking out some of the homebrew stuff on it.

I like it. Ideal for party stuff. Dance Central is choice and would definitely tick the "fat bastard writhing on the floor having a coronary" box.

The rest are ok, but not much that you can't do on the Wii, and are firmly in the 'mini-games' camp. Having said that, the whole body tracking is really impressive and does give things a better range of controls in some regards especially stuff that requires jumping or kicking. The Sports game is pretty cool - track and field with running on the spot, or hurdles with running and jumping. You end up seriously fucked at the end of it and you can't cheat as easily as you can on the Wii.

Never been keen myself. I'm of the opinion that they will always find new methods if controlling games, but in the end the good old controller is the best bit of kit there is. I don't like dancing games, for obvious reasons, and can't see any other use for it.

You also need to have at least 7' space from the sensor for it to operate. Which I could only just do. Certainly, if I was leaping around like spastic, as you tend to do with kinect games, then I would have some serious space issues in my house.

Boss for parties. Dance central and sports great fun for who decides who is doing the dishes.

It gets switched on about twice a month for an hour or two. Hardly a must have, but sometime, just sometimes, it's genius. Mainly when it involves sambuka.
