Even the "go fuck yourself" command (and even the ZX Spectrum knew that one; if you were playing "Valhalla", anyway, where a character called Mary would punch you if you tried to get abusive; although technically not parsed verbally - you had to type it in. Which was my default method in adventure games, when inevitably I stalled at the first puzzle).

What was that game that orb posted about years ago, if you typed in fuck off, it would reply back 'grow up'

Most software weighs in at a lot less than that though. I d/l and installed CS5 over the net, I'd call that real software. I'm picking most people here have used Steam for some fairly hefty installs, and the App store is a hell of a lot slicker than that.

Yup. Still got to do all the landscaping and tree planting. Of which there is a lot.

At a conservative estimate, I reckon I'll need at least 300 trees in the first stage. Plus a shit load of bushes/grasses type stuff.

Anyone want to pop over and lend a hand digging holes? 8)

Thinking of buying an iMac in the next few months. Probably gonna give my PC to my daughter.
Having had an iPod touch, an iPhone and now an iPad2, i'm abosolutely convinced that Apple hardware is a million times better than anything out there. Since getting my iPad, my laptop has not been used once and my desktop PC feels like a relic.

Can't remember who has one, except for Fnarr? Would I benefit from the extra RAM? The 21.5" iMac has a standard 4GB of Ram of you can buy another 4Gb to make it up to 8. The model in the shop ran quicker than greased lighning on speed. I've never seen anything as slick. It's a fucking work of art!

Must have one...

Got 19 iMacs at work - they seem quick, up until you start using them alot.

iPad 2 = giant iPod Touch.

Guess how you make over £8 billion profit in 3 months and are richer than the US government - http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/26/business/ieconomy-apples-ipad-and-the-human-costs-for-workers-in-china.html

God bless their happy hippy socks, they're such a nice caring company.

8gb of RAM makes a difference. The SSD makes a huge difference. Try the 27.5" screen if you can - it's sweet.

Mine runs with Photoshop, Illustrator, Safari, Firefox, Omnifocus, iTunes, Mail, Pages and Skype simultaneously, 100% of the time, and is still ultra responsive and launches a new app like lightening.

I don't use Office on it though. My MacBook Pro ran MS Office and Parallels to interface with work, and Outlook in particular was tragic. Avoid any software written by MS and you'll be fine.

I've been using my 24" dual core since 2008 and ive maxed out the RAM. I mainly use the adobe creative suite (PS, Illustrator, InDesign etc..) and it's still pretty quick.

However... i'd say unless you have a specific need for a mac I wouldn't bother. They look flashy yeah, but a PC does all what a mac does at a fraction of the cost. Don't fall for the looks!

The main advantages of a mac are loading times, 'self defragging' and the reduced risk of viruses. I still run a windows laptop to do all the things a mac can't (bootcamp gets on my tits).
