I bought this today on special offer from steam for a fiver. Probably the best fiver I've spent in ages. Hadn't realised how good it was. You need a monster of a PC to run it at the higher settings but its a really well put together game.

Combat is a bitch to get the hang of though. Anyone any tips on handling combat? I'm using an Xbox game pad which works well, but the inventory seems all messed up unless you use the mouse?

Isn't Windy a bit of a Witcher expert??

I used the mouse for my first play through, basically you just need to time your mouse clicks right, make sure you choose the correct attacks and sword, i.e. light attacks for certain enemys, heavy attacks for others, also you do know it's silver swords for monsters, steel swords for humans, I think you can purchase books or something to help with correct attacks and boost your power against monsters.

Also, no matter what spec you use, upgrading quen in the magic tree helps loads.

Remember a witcher is a mutant for a reason, i.e. potions are very useful even if you don't go down the alchemey tree, they are too powerful for normal humans to use.

Remember to use oils on your swords aswell.

Preparation is the key, meditate and use potions and oils, unfortunatley one of the biggest gripes with the witcher 2 is the cutscences before hard fights don't let you meditate to prepare.

Using the PS3 controller for my latest play through, not sure which I prefer TBH.

Awesome game, but I still prefer the first one ;-)

The third one looks amazing, my whole next gen experience will be built around it, which ever comes first (probably PC) I will purchase what ever I need for it.

Got both games ages ago and still have yet to properly play them.

At the moment I'm still deciding whether to buy Kerbal Space Program which is 33% off at the moment.

Played the Kerbal demo and thought it was crap. I like the idea, but you need to literally be a rocket scientist to understand how it works. I really couldn't be arsed with it.

Bought Witcher 1 and 2 - played Witcher 1 for around 4 hours and Witcher 2 for around an hour, really enjoyed both of them but just haven't gone back to play them anymore.

The witcher is fucking boss, the third one sounds amazing, my only gripe with the second one was that they scaled back on the freedom and side quests and they going open world with the third.

If they can still nail the quality main story and also give side storys the same sort of attention with all the grey moral choices, while set in a massive varied open world, that will suit me fine, they can keep all the crafting and combat the same for all I care ;-)
