So I bought a new calculator. A Texas Instruments 30Xa, or TI-30Xa

Nothing fancy but it's the one used for the OU module Y162 Starting with maths.

I'm not very good at maths (at the moment) so I figured why not do something about it. I'm not actually doing an OU course, it's one my dad did a while back, not that he really needed to as he's pretty good at this sort of stuff anyway, being a retired nuclear engineer and such. But being retired in his 70's he's now getting into Cosmology and is taking some OU courses in it and just thought he'd start from scratch again. Obviously he's doing much more advanced stuff now.

Anyway having just read Parallel Worlds by Michio Kaku, I figured how hard can all this theoretical physics stuff be anyway? Quantum Theory, String Theory, pah! You know I'm not sure Einsteins theory of relativity is actually all it's cracked up to be.

So, doing maths yo! (Could probably also do with knowing physics, chemistry and biology, but whatever!)

My older brother did a degree in engineering, I flunked art college. But fuck him. I'm sure all the acid I did has opened my mind to broader possibilities man!

Fair play for studying... its hard work when you've got a full time job etc..

You want to try having kids if you think reading a couple of books is a timesink
